Southwest Colorado SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT CENTER
In cities across Colorado, small businesses are anything but. The majority of businesses in Durango employ seven people or fewer, with a large portion of those businesses run by sole proprietors. And in tourist-driven communities like Pagosa Springs, the impact of each small business may be even more dramatic. This is where the Southwest Colorado Small Business Development Center comes in. With workshops and one-on-one counseling, it is the place to turn for current or would-be small business owners grappling with a wide range of questions. El Pomar's Southwest Regional Council was looking for innovate ways to support economic development when the idea to fund the SBDC was born. It's a perfect example of how a nonprofit can help strengthen the economic vitality of a community as a whole.
